Eddie Hartner Tennis Complex

The Eddie Hartner Tennis Complex is part of the Bay Minette Municipal Complex at 1300 Bradley Avenue. This park is also home to the municipal pool, Bark Minette Dog Park, sand volleyball courts, Barbara Dobbins Walking Trail, and the Universal Playground.

The Tennis Complex includes six lighted courts for play. The courts were resurfaced in 2020 and additional upgrades included new benches and the installation of wind screens on all six courts. This project was a joint effort of the City of Bay Minette, Baldwin County High School and Coastal Alabama Community College. Both BCHS and CACC tennis teams practice and play matches on these courts.

The complex is named for Eddie Hartner, a gifted educator, athlete and coach. Hartner was a graduate of Baldwin County High School and earned a football scholarship to Marion Military Institute. He was later awarded a tennis scholarship and completed his Bachelor of Science Biology Degree, graduating with the charter class of the University of South Alabama. He served as captain of the university’s Tennis Team. His teaching career spanned 34 years at Baldwin County High School where he also coached football, baseball, basketball and golf. After retirement, he served as assistant tennis coach at then-Faulkner State community College (now CACC) and coached many matches at these tennis courts. The courts were named in his memory in October 2020.
