Liana Barnett joined the City of Bay Minette in April 2022 as Human Resources Director and is responsible for recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, employee relations, training, performance management, labor law and benefits compliance, and other human resource functions for the City.


Prior to her experience with the City of Bay Minette, Barnett was employed in various positions with the Mobile County Merit System for almost 29 years, including Personnel Director for the Mobile County Personnel Board (2016 - 2019), Human Resource Manager (2008 - 2016), Human Resources Officer for the Mobile Public Library (2004 - 2008), and Personnel Analyst I/II (1991 – 2004).


Barnett is a 1990 graduate of the University of South Alabama with a bachelor’s degree in Management (specialization in Personnel and Industrial Relations).  The Bay Minette resident has been a member of various professional and community organizations at various levels and enjoys working and serving in her community.
