Rita Diedtrich began her career with the City of Bay Minette in 1998 as an Accounting Technician and later advanced to the positions of Administrative Assistant, Personnel Director and City Clerk.
Diedtrich served as Personnel Director after obtaining certification as a Human Resources Professional from the Alabama Association of Public Personnel Administrators through Auburn University. She earned the highest certification conferred by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks through the University of Alabama College of Continuing Studies as a Master Clerk in 2014, after achieving the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk in 2011. She is a member of the Alabama Association of Public Personnel Administrators and Alabama Association of Municipal Clerks and Administrators.
Diedtrich is a 1981 graduate of Baldwin County High School and obtained an Associate of Science Degree in Business Management in 1986 from then-Faulkner State Community College. She is a member of Hall’s Fork Assembly of God Church and serves as Secretary/Treasurer.
The goal of City Clerk's office is to accurately record all official actions of the governing body, protect and maintain city records and archives efficiently conduct impartial municipal elections, and provide services to the citizens, elected officials, city departments and outside organizations in a professional manner.
It is the City Clerk's responsibility to oversee and keep records of all legal documents including Council Minutes, Ordinances, Resolutions, etc. The City Clerk prepares the semi-monthly Council Agenda, attend all City Council Work Sessions and Meeting, officially certify actions taken by the Council and attest to the correctness of documents executed by the Mayor and City Council.
The City Clerk also serves as the City's Election Manager and is responsible for planning, conducting and supervising all City elections.
