Summary

• Performs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system and refrigeration system installation, repair, and maintenance work for city buildings and related facilities; coordinates projects with other trade professionals or outside contractors as required.
• Performs installation, repair, and maintenance work for other skilled/semi-skilled tasks associated with facilities maintenance projects, to include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, masonry, and other general facilities maintenance activities.
• Responds to work orders and requests to conduct various repair/maintenance projects; calculates/estimates time and materials needed to complete projects; plans work activities to minimize downtime in offices, work areas, or public areas; conducts maintenance inspections of buildings, equipment, and facilities to identify necessary repairs; reports potentially hazardous or dangerous situations; responds to emergency situations.
• Performs various skilled/semi-skilled tasks associated with HVAC projects; operates computerized system controls; troubleshoots HVAC system problems; troubleshoots HVAC controls and motor controls; replaces HVAC equipment; services/maintains HVAC and refrigeration systems; replaces compressors, motors, and fan blades; repairs and maintains boilers; recovers refrigerant for recycling; replaces belts and bearings; installs and repairs ice machines; greases pumps and motors; cleans/replaces condenser coils; replaces air filters; welds/solders metal components.
• Installs and repairs plumbing systems and associated equipment, repairs plumbing leaks, inspects and tests pipes and plumbing fixtures, unclogs drainpipes, repairs commodes and urinals, and replaces sinks.
• Installs and replaces receptacles and switches, replaces light bulbs, ceiling tubes and fixtures, pulls wires and runs conduit, and inspects and troubleshoots electrical outages.
• Hangs doors and installs door hardware; installs or removes modular furniture; performs general maintenance and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Ensures physical structures, equipment/system operations, and repair/maintenance activities are in compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules, regulations, and specifications; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations.
• Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors work environment to ensure safety of employees and other individuals.
• Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with department projects, which may include a utility truck, air compressor, generator, pressure washer, pump, refrigerant recovery machine, vacuum pump, torch, saw, drill, drill press, conduit benders, cable/wire pullers, electrician tools, testing instruments, meters, gauges, circuit tracer, mechanic tools, plumbing tools, carpentry tools, painting tools, ladders, elevated work platforms, and/or measuring devices.
• Performs general construction/carpentry/painting work which may include building/installing cabinets, rails, baseboards, and moldings; framing/completing small offices and tool rooms; building forms for concrete crews; replacing or installing flooring, doors, doorknobs, locks; installing/finishing sheetrock; painting buildings; and repairing furniture.
• Meets with department heads to discuss construction needs/problems; estimates job costs; orders materials and selects paint colors; read blueprints and completes take-offs.
• Performs general cleaning/maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment, tools, and work areas in good condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, replacing parts, washing/cleaning equipment, or cleaning shop/work areas; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.
• Transports, loads and unloads various equipment and materials used in projects.
• Monitors inventory levels of parts, equipment, tools, or supplies; ensures availability of adequate materials to conduct projects and work activities; initiates requests for new/replacement materials as needed.
• Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, work orders, parts requisitions, maintenance records, charts, graphs, diagrams, or other documentation.
• Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, vendors/suppliers, service contractors, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
• Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge of applicable codes, laws, and regulations; maintains an awareness of new materials, methods, trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; maintains professional affiliations; attends workshops and training sessions as appropriate.
• Drives to various locations in order to inspect issues/concerns, to complete assigned tasks, or to pick up materials or equipment.
• Inspects vehicle, equipment, and tools assigned, prior to use, to ensure proper maintenance tasks have been completed in order to keep machinery, equipment, and tools in good working condition.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

• A minimum of three (3) years work experience in building and facilities maintenance, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver license from state of residence and have a clean driving record. 
• Must have clean criminal background.

Rate of Pay:

• The current salary range for certified Firefighter is $44,233.80 - $68,348.80 per year.
• The current salary range for non-certified Firefighter is $42,859.48 - $66,967.93 per year.
• Hiring salary is the minimum rate of pay, but may be higher based on qualifications.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

• High school diploma or successful completion of a GED required.

• Certification as a Firefighter I/II by the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission is highly preferred.

• Provides exceptional customer service when assisting the public regarding Planning and Development related matters.
• Receives, copies, scans, files, and maintains a variety of departmental records (paper and electronic filing systems), to include departmental files, lists, letters, memoranda, logs, and reports, using Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or other software.
• Processes and reviews applications for City regulation compliance.
• Assists the public in filing applications via the on-line permitting process.
• Serves as primary staff member for accepting/issuing building permits, accepting payments, and scheduling inspections.
• Prepares departmental correspondence, including public meeting notices, postings, certified mailings, agenda preparation, meeting minute transcriptions, and other correspondence as required.
• Receives, records, prepares, and processes administrative and financial documents, to include purchase orders, requisitions, timesheets, work orders, monthly reports, calendars, expense invoices, and travel requests.
• Manages the Planning & Development Services Department website, including the creation of forms, applications and other public informational materials.
• Accepts applications for Zoning Verification Requests and property assessments, compiling information from various departments and completing property assessments.
• Maintains the Planning Department’s financial records, including processing payment receipts, daily financial reporting, and monthly credit card reporting.
• Monitors and processes office supplies to ensure adequate inventory, creates purchase order requisitions; forwards completed requisitions for approval and processing; maintains adequate documentation of purchase orders and invoices; maintains department asset inventory.
• Recommends policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of quality services by the department.
• Incorporates continuous quality improvement principles in day-to-day activities.
• Serves as Notary Public.
• Maintains relevant databases and permanent records.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required, preferably supplemented by two years of college coursework in planning, urban development, environmental planning, geographic information science, or a related field.
• A minimum of one year of technical level experience in planning, zoning, or a closely related field is required, preferably within a governmental planning environment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, to include Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• May be required to possess and maintain a valid driver license from state of residence.

The City of Bay Minette is accepting applications for the position of Recreation Aide with the City of Bay Minette Recreation Department. 

This is a part-time position working in the City of Bay Minette Recreation Center, City Concession Stand, and Parks.  An incumbent in this position will work at various recreation camps during the summer, as well as weekend events and tournaments, as needed.  Hours may vary depending on the recreation camp schedules, events, and tournament schedules. 

Responsibilities

• Works events and camps scheduled at the Recreation Center and/or park facilities.
• Assists in leading camp activities, such as arts, crafts, sports, and other activity camps.
• Enforces camp rules and regulations and ensures safety in recreational facilities.
• Demonstrates the use of recreational equipment and teaches participants the principles, techniques, and safety procedures for each activity. 
• Greets camp participants and introduces them to other campers.
• Explains facility rules.
• Reports complaints to leadership and works to resolve issues.
• Performs first aid by following prescribed procedures and contacts emergency personnel when required by the situation.
• Maintains and keeps records of camp or facility attendance.
• Prepares routine administrative paperwork.
